Believer 2, a Netflix aired South Korean action crime thriller, is a sequel to the 2018 film Believer. A Solid follow-up to the original one that took a distinctive approach for a sequel. By the middle, it will give a vibe of a midquel, as this movie fills in parts of the original that were left unexplained, instead of just extending the story from the first film. Overall, a pretty good continuation of the original part where a cop, Won-ho, searches for the killer of one of his informants, along with capturing the infamous master mind behind the cartel, Mr. Lee.

Storyline and Plot

The plot of the movie unfolds as the protagonist pursues the mysterious Mr. Lee. Detective Won-ho,  fueled by the death of his colleague and young informants by the goons of Mr. Lee’s cartel, planned to take revenge in this sequel. Rak, on the other hand, at first misinterpreted to be Mr. Lee, is revealed to be in search of the real Mr Lee. He is also seeking to avenge himself.

A key figure, Brian, who was attacked by Rak previously, is also waiting for his turn to seek retaliation against Rak due to some misunderstandings. Overall, all characters are entangled in a state of high tension, including Brian and Rak, depicting a complex web of double-dealing, trickery, and violence in the world of drug trafficking.

It’s a movie full of congenial grit, bravery, and a cliff-hanging thriller reflecting themes of betrayal, revenge, and violence.

Believer: Acting and Choreography

This film sparkles with its well-executed action sequences and tense atmosphere. The elaborate undercover operation that covers the core of the plot keeps the viewer hooked throughout the movie. The actors, along with the supporting cast, especially Kim Joo-hyuk as the unstable and insane Harim, are applauded for their captivating performances, adding black comedy within the scenes.

Believer-2 is very visually engaging. Its top-notch cinematography, intriguing characters, and solid action make it beyond a mere copycat remake and competent in the crime thriller genre.

Believer-2 :Themes and critics

Though some viewers and movie Critics were disappointed with the replacement of actors from previous seasons, particularly the original Mr. Lee from the previous film, some liked having Cha Seung-won as a villain, as he is best at being an antagonist. Oh Seung, Hoon is excellent in his role as well.

The introduction of deaf and mute characters played by Dong-Young and Joo-Young, respectively, gives a fresh feeling to many. The film also revolves around a bit of time and different places, which mystify the storyline a little. Some also criticized it for lacking a clearer closure.

So…. Grab some popcorn and start watching Believer-2. This movie is worth watching as it can take you on a roller coaster ride full of perfectly choreographed fighting scenes while adding layers with twists and turns, suspense, and plenty of violence.

The marvelous direction, acting, and editing make it a far enjoyable and highly charged action thriller of all time Korean movie.
